Planning a Ski Trip during COVID-19
Click on the link for some guidance and a list of Frequently Asked Questions

Please read the guidance we've provided, specifically concerning the Go/No-Go decision dates that we've established.  These dates are listed beneath the Payment Schedule in the trip descriptions.

Click on the Show details links to see the particulars for each trip.

Signup/Registration Tips

Please take a moment to read the Trip Signup/Registration Tips.

Each individual must be logged-in with their PSC credentials (email address & password) in order to register (sign up) for a trip.  Before signing up, please take a moment to review your profile including your emergency contact information and (if you're thinking of a trip to Canada or Europe) your passport information.  Make sure your first and middle names exactly match your passport (or whatever ID you'll fly with) so your ticket gets issued correctly.  Then click on the trip's Register button if you're ready to sign up!  Your personal information will be pulled from your profile, and then you will need to select options specific to each trip, for example, what type of lodging you prefer (double occupancy or a single room at extra cost) and what type of lift ticket you want.

Important If you are registering someone other than yourself, you must log out of your own account and then log in with their credentials.  If you skip this step and register them while signed into your own account, their profile information won't convey into their signup record.  This is necessary even with family (bundle) memberships where you are the bundle administrator.

Wait-Listed Trips

Click on the button to Join wait list and we may be able to confirm you on the trip if we have a cancellation, after confirming that you still want to go.  We're also sometimes able to expand a trip to accommodate additional skiers.

Blue Ridge Ski Council

Beginning July 1, 2020, registration for our 2021 ski trips will be opened to members of other ski clubs that are members of the Blue Ridge Ski Council through the "sanctioning" process.  Hint:  To register for a trip you must first "join" the PSC as a no-cost BRSC member and populate your membership profile.

PSC members may similarly go on trips that have been sanctioned by other clubs.  Here's a link to a list of sanctioned trips.

Trip Invoice & Initial Deposit

An invoice will be generated for each trip you've registered for.  Each trip includes a payment table listing an initial deposit, one or more interim payments, and a final payment date.  You must pay the initial deposit, and any subsequent interim payments that have or are about to come due, to secure your place on the trip.  Your registration is not confirmed until we receive and acknowledge your deposit.  Payments can be made online with a credit card, or by mailing (or giving) a check to the trip leader.  We can also accept credit card payments at club meetings (and at our picnic!).

Ski Reservations Required:  Each skier will be required to reserve their ski days online, in advance.  The reservation window for pass holders runs from November 6 through December 7.  Some guidance on making your reservations is provided in Vail Skiing Reservation Procedure.

*Note:  The cost of the Epic Day Passes did not increase on 9/18/20 as was feared.  The 5/6 day (non-holiday) passes remain priced at $490/$571.  This is substantially less than the group lift tickets that we had previously offered; those were priced at $660/$759 (adults) and $652/$751 (seniors).

Ancient Egypt and the Nile River

     April 21-May 6, 2022  from $5,195

In the spring of 2022 the PSC will be going to Egypt. Egypt is a must see for many travelers, and you'll discover it in exceptional depth on this Land/River Cruise Tour.  You'll see the Pyramids of Giza, the tombs of the Pharaohs and the enigmatic Sphinx, but your discoveries won't end there:  you'll gain insight on Egypt's people and their lifestyles.

Make your way through an authentic spice market...glimpse the Temple of Dendera, where other Egypt tours rarely stop...and ride a traditional felucca sailboat along the Nile.  You'll cruise the Nile aboard our privately chartered 75-passenger river ship, the Nefertiti.  Onboard you'll enjoy a dining room with convenient, single open seating and crisp linens, panoramic views, and delicious cuisine; an open sun deck; a pool and a shaded bar; and your own private room with the warmth and dedication of our English speaking staff.  Plus, each room has a full private balcony with seating for two - a feature most other Nile ships don't offer.

On April 21, 2022 we will depart D.C. for Cairo and visit the Egyptian Museum, Fatimid Cairo, Sakkara & Memphis.  We will board our ship in Luxor on the 6th day. We will visit Luxor, Qena, Edfu, Aswan.  Included tours:  Valley of the Kings, Colossi of Memnon, Temple of Dendera, Karnak Temple, Temple of Edfu, Temple of Koa, Ombo, Philae,  Aswan High Dam and Abu Simbel.  When we return to Cairo on the 13th day we will visit the Great Pyramids of Giza &  Sphinx and Old Cairo.

What's included? International airfare, airport transfers, government taxes, fees and airline fuel charges.  Accommodations for 7 nights in Cairo and 7 nights aboard O.A.T.'s privately chartered river ship, the Nefertiti.  35 meals - 14 daily breakfasts, 11 lunches and 10 dinners - includes 2 Home Hosted Meals.  23 guided tours (with personal headsets) and cultural experiences.  Services of our local Trip Experience Leader, gratuities for local motor coach drivers, all port charges, baggage handling for one (1) piece of luggage per person, including tips, visa fees for entrance to Egypt (if you have an airport transfer with us in Cairo).

Join us for a wealth of unforgettable experiences on an adventure 93% of our travelers rated excellent. Majestic elephants congregate around a waterhole in the depths of the wilderness ... members of a village near Hwange National Park welcome your small group ... the spray of Victoria Falls roars in the distance ... you and your travel companions exchange stories around a fire under a star-filled African sky. In the morning, you wake to the birdsong emanating from nearby trees—and begin another day on the safari of your dreams.

On this adventure, we’ll spend 12 nights in small lodges and tented camps. Enjoy up to 19 game-viewing drives with our sharp-eyed Trip Experience Leaders and expert, naturalist driver-guides; individual interactions in remote villages due to our small group size of just 16 travelers; flights via bush plane over the legendary African landscape. From world-famous Chobe National Park to the majestic Okavango Delta, and big game to local cultures—this safari has it all. And whenever you’d like, you have the freedom to explore more of Africa on your own: Break off from the group for independent discoveries—like enjoying dinner in Victoria Falls while listening to a live township jazz band at Mama Africa—during free time.

Physical requirements: During game-viewing excursions, we’ll travel over bumpy, dusty terrain and occasionally go off-roading in the bush, as well as walk on sandy, uneven terrain in the Okavango Delta and at our camps.

Join us for a flight over Victoria Falls, and appreciate the “smoke that thunders” from a whole new angle. Aboard a four- or six-passenger helicopter, your experienced pilot will treat you to a bird’s-eye view of majestic Victoria Falls, the wide Zambezi River, and the zigzag-shaped gorges below. This is the best way to see such vast, impressive landscapes—as Dr. David Livingstone said himself, the falls are “so lovely they must have been gazed upon by angels in their flight.” Please note: There is a national park fee of U.S. $15 in addition to the price of this tour.

    ·  DAY 17 Return to U.S. or begin your optional trip extension

Optional Post-Trip:  South Africa:   Cape Town & the Cape of Good Hope

With Table Mountain as its backdrop, idyllic Cape of Good Hope to the south, penguin-filled Boulders Beach, a bevy of bays at its feet, and the lushest foliage this side of paradise, Cape Town arguably occupies one of the most spectacular natural settings on Earth. Here is your chance to revel in it—and discover the distinct contrast of the cosmopolitan heart of Cape Town and the natural wonders that surround it. As you explore, you’ll witness the amazing social transformation of the “Rainbow Nation.”  Dine with locals and experience the diversity of Cape Town and the Cape of Good Hope, on a trip extension.

Trip Insurance:  Every participant should buy some type of travel insurance for the trip.  Possible options include the following:

    • Emergency medical, evacuation & repatriation insurance (not cancellation insurance) is available for an affordable $25 premium from Myra Altschuler of Travel Protectors, Inc. (Option One as described on this link).  Note that this is not cancellation coverage and will not provide any relief if you have to cancel from the trip before it begins, whether for medical or other reasons.
    • You may upgrade your coverage from Myra to include cancellation coverage:
      • The “Standard” cancellation coverage (Option Two in the flyer) provides benefits at 100% if you need to cancel from the trip for a “standard” reason.
      • The costlier "Cancel for Any Reason" (CFAR) coverage (Option Three in the flyer) provides benefits at 75% if you need to cancel from the trip for a “non-standard” reason.  It must be purchased within 14 days of paying your initial deposit on the trip.  You would need the CFAR option to be covered for cancellation due to COVID-19 or any other outbreak.
    • CFAR coverage is also available through OAT as described on this link.  It provides benefits at 100%.
      • You would be reimbursed in cash for certain "Covered” cancellation reasons.
      • With a cancellation for other than a "Covered” reason, you would receive a voucher for a new reservation from OAT.

We suggest that you carefully compare plans before purchase.  Coverage for pre-existing conditions can be especially tricky:

    • With Myra’s insurance, if you have a pre-existing medical condition, it can be waived if you purchase coverage before you pay your final trip payment.
    • With the OAT insurance, if you purchase coverage within 10 days of making your initial deposit/payment for your trip, your pre-existing medical condition would qualify for cash reimbursement.  If you purchase coverage after that, you would receive a voucher for a future trip instead of cash.
