Itinerary

Day 1: Wed, May 13 - Depart DC to Paris

Day 2: Thu, May 14 (Nice) - Fly from Paris to Nice; meander and relax. Have dinner

Day 3: Fri, May 15 (Nice) - Nice on your own. Check out the Musee Matisse and Musee Chagall; walk the Promenades des Anglais and the Quai des E. U.; Visit the Hotel Negresco for coffee; enjoy the morning market or do lunch there; see old Greek archeological site

Day 4: Sat, May 16 (Nice) - Bus to nearby Monte Carlo; see the casino, the aquarium, the Royal Palace and changing of the guard, the yachts and the harbor and shop. Follow this with dinner (on your own) and then bus back to Nice.

Day 5: Sun, May 17 (Nice) - In the morning go to Grasse, the perfume capital of tout le monde and do lunch; in the afternoon, see the Gorges du Loop and the French countryside before returning to Nice for dinner


Day 6: Mon, May 18 (Avignon) - Depart Nice to visit the mountain-top town of Gordes for lunch; in the afternoon go north to the lavender fields and Mt. Ventoux. Go to Avignon for dinner
Day 7: Tue, May 19 (Avignon) - A lazy day in Avignon, visit the Papal Palace and its museum, walk the famous bridge, shop and dine

Day 8: Wed, May 20 (Avignon) - Visit Orange, see the amphitheater, go to the market (if open), shop, lunch. In the afternoon we will visit a winery in Chateauneuf du Pape and return to Avignon for dinner
Day 9: Thu, May 21 (Avignon) - Visit Nimes, see the colliseum, the Carre d’Art, shop, see the city that invented blue jeans (cloth de Nimes = denim), return to Avignon for dinner



Day 10: Fri, May 22 (Arles) - Depart Avignon for the nature preserve of the Camargue. see the famous white horses and the flamingoes. It’s a nature day followed by going to Arles for check-in and dinner

Day 11: Sat, May 23 (Arles) - Spend a lazy day in Arles, go to the Foundation van Gogh and surrounding gardens, shop, meander, have lunch and dinner

Day 12: Sun, May 24 (Arles) - See the famous Pont du Garde Aqueduct and Les Beaux-de-Provence, shop and have lunch. Return to Arles for dinner
Day 13: Mon, May 25 (Arles) - Visit St. Remy where van Gogh spent time and see the Luberon, known for beautiful nature and old villages. return to Arles for dinner


Day 14: Tue, May 26 (Aix-en-Provence) - we will leave Arles and visit Marseilles. See the old port, have bouillabaisse for lunch, take a gondola to a castle. Proceed to Aix for dinner
Day 15: Wed, May 27 (Aix) - Spend the day in the capital of Provence, visit the market, see the Musee de Tapisseries, Cezanne’s study, and the many fountains. Look for the restaurant where the Impressionists paid for food with drawings; have dinner

Day 16: Thu, May 28 (Aix) - Visit the scenic port town of Cassis for lunch and return to Aix for a probable Farewell Dinner

Day 17: Fri, May 29 (Paris) - We will take the TGV to Paris for the night This is still TBD and is time-dependent and might be changed to a double flight back to the US

Day 18: Sat, May 30 - Fly back to the US. Go through customs. Get a cab or a whatever and go home and sleep in your own bed.



Trip Details:  Included - All transportation (flights, private motor coach and train); 3 or 4-Star hotels; Entrance fees; (guided tours TBD); all breakfasts; three dinners (still TBD); all hotel taxes, etc.; luggage handling (1 bag pp).

Hotels still TBD.  All trips have schedule changes (such as where to have dinner) and price for the trip is a good estimate but may change.

Medical and repatriation insurance is included; Cancellation insurance is not.  If you choose the latter on your own, the cost for medical/repatriation will be taken off your final payment. If you choose to get cancellation, the PSC uses Travel Protectors (Myra Altshuler at 703-443-9055). You can, of course, use any other insurance agent/ company

Single supplement costs are TBD. Deposit for the trip is $1500 and we ask for 4 payments: a $1500 deposit, $1200 due Oct 8, $1200 due Dec 10, and $1250 or the balance on Feb 15. Payment can be made on the website using your credit card or by sending a check made out to Pentagon Ski Club to Susie.
