Non-Skiing Trips

The non-skiing vacation trips listed below (scroll down to UPCOMING EVENTS) are available for registration/signups as indicated.

2025 Ski Trips

We're still in the process of setting up our 2025 ski trips.  We anticipate having everything ready to begin accepting signups by late May or early JuneIn the meantime, here are the trips we anticipate offering.  Several trips remain tentative and some dates and destinations may change.  We'll be receiving the remaining proposals and selecting tour operators in the coming weeks.  Then we'll hold our all-day "Summer Summit" Council meeting where we'll establish the selling prices and appoint trip leaders.  After that, we'll put all the trips online and open them up for registration/signup:

Epic & Ikon Passes:  All of our trips will be going to resorts that honor one of the multi-resort season passes.  You may purchase passes directly from the suppliers, but several of our our tour operators have promotions offering discounts or rebates in conjunction the trips you might take with the club.  Go to our Epic & Ikon Pass page to see the offers.  You may wish to consider purchasing your passes through them.  The exceptions are Military Epic passes and military discounts on Ikon passes, which are only available from the suppliers (but note that special pricing is available on Ikon Passes through the Military Sales Program).

You should consider purchasing passes early-on as the costs typically increase before the Memorial Day holiday and periodically as winter gets closer.   Season pass sales typically end in early-to-mid December.

Blue Ridge Ski Council:  Registration for our 2025 ski trips will be opened beginning August 1, 2024 to members of other ski clubs that are members of the Blue Ridge Ski Council through the "sanctioning" process.  Hint:  To register for a trip you must first "join" the PSC as a no-cost BRSC member and populate your membership profile.

Tips for All Trips

Trip Insurance:  Be sure to review our Trip Insurance page before signing up for a trip, and consider whether to purchase cancellation insurance.  Note that the cancel for any reason option requires that you pay the premium within 14 days of paying your initial deposit on a trip.  The 14-day purchase deadline also applies in order to waive the pre-existing medical condition exclusion.

Signup/Registration Tips:  Please take a moment to read the Trip Signup/Registration Tips.  Each individual must be logged-in with their PSC credentials (email address & password) in order to register (sign up) for a trip.  Before signing up, please take a moment to review your profile including your emergency contact information and (if you're thinking of a trip to Canada or Europe) your passport information.  Make sure your first and middle names exactly match your passport (or whatever ID you'll fly with) so your ticket gets issued correctly.  Then click on the trip's Register button if you're ready to sign up!  Your personal information will be pulled from your profile, and then you will need to select options specific to each trip, for example, what type of lodging you prefer (double occupancy or a single room at extra cost) and what type of lift ticket you want.

Important If you are registering someone other than yourself, you must log out of your own account and then log in with their credentials.  If you skip this step and register them while signed into your own account, their profile information won't convey into their signup record.  This is necessary even with family (bundle) memberships where you are the bundle administrator.

Wait-Listed Trips:  Click on the button to Join wait list and we may be able to confirm you on the trip if we have a cancellation, after confirming that you still want to go.  We're also sometimes able to expand a trip to accommodate additional skiers.

Trip Invoice & Initial Deposit:  An invoice will be generated for each trip you've registered for.  Each trip includes a payment table listing an initial deposit, one or more interim payments, and a final payment date.  You must pay the initial deposit, and any subsequent interim payments that have or are about to come due, to secure your place on the trip.  Your registration is not confirmed until we receive and acknowledge your deposit.  Payments can be made online with a credit card, or by check.  We can also accept credit card payments at club meetings.

Join the Pentagon Ski Club on a Vermont Bicycle Tour (VBT) to

the Black Forest region of Switzerland, Germany, and France.

Experience a rich blend of French and German cultures as you criss cross borders and ride through quaint Alsatian towns, pause for wine tastings along the legendary Route des Vins, and wind along the canals of Colmar’s “Little Venice.” Pedal along well-marked bike routes, quiet country roads, and through rural paths open only to cyclists and farmers. Stroll cobbled pedestrian streets, passing charming half-timbered facades adorned with overflowing flower boxes, and perhaps pausing to bite into the famous Black Forest cake of a skilled pastry chef. Step back in time and enjoy a guided tour of 2,000-year-old Roman ruins in the spa town of Badenweiler. Throughout your adventure, stunning mountain ranges form the backdrop to your picturesque bike routes through France, Germany, and Switzerland.

    Trip Insurance:

Emergency medical, evacuation & repatriation insurance (not cancellation insurance) is included with your trip.  This is not cancellation coverage and will not provide any relief if you have to cancel from the trip before it begins, whether for medical or other reasons.  You may upgrade the coverage of this Basic Plan to include cancellation insurance by clicking on this link.  It will take you to a flyer describing the Basic Plan and the upgrade options available through Myra Altschuler of Travel Protectors LLC:

    • The Option 1 cancellation plan provides all the benefits of the Basic Plan, but also covers you for cancelling for a number of basic reasons such as illness, injury or death to you or to your traveling companion/ roommate.  You must purchase it within 14 days of putting down your very first dollar towards the trip in order to waive the pre-existing medical condition exclusion.
    • The Option 2 "Cancel For Any Reason" (CFAR) plan provides all the benefits of the Option 1 plan, but also covers you for cancelling for any non-standard reason, or if you just don’t want to go, but you must purchase it within 14 days of putting down your very first dollar towards the trip.  If you cancel your trip for a non-standard reason, your refund will be limited to 75% of your insured trip cost.
    • If you upgrade your coverage with either option through Myra, the trip leader will credit you with the $50 cost of the club-provided Basic Plan.  Disbursement of funds is at the discretion of the trip leader and may be done prior to, during, or after the trip.  If you cancel from the trip there will be no credit given.
    • If you purchase your own travel insurance, which includes emergency medical, evacuation & repatriation coverage, the trip leader will credit you with the $50 cost of the club-provided Basic Plan.  You must present your policy to the trip leader to receive the credit.  Disbursement of funds is at the discretion of the trip leader and may be done prior to, during, or after the trip.  If you cancel from the trip there will be no credit given.

    Summer Picnic

    Saturday, July 13, 2024  -  Noon to 4 pm
    (lunch buffet served until 2pm)

Hyatt Hotel in Reston Town Center
1800 Presidents Street, Reston, VA  20190

    Registration is REQUIRED to attend!

Please Register by Monday, July 1st

Join your ski club friends for an afternoon picnic at the Hyatt Hotel in Reston Town Center, which is located just off the Dulles Toll Road and also nearby Route 7 headed west from Tysons Corner toward Leesburg.  (This is where we had the picnic in 2021.)

Due to renovations underway at our usual location of Fort Myer, we had to look for alternatives.

The picnic will be on the second floor of the hotel in part of the hotel's ballroom, and we will also have access to an outdoor terrace.

The menu will consist of our typical picnic fare:  hamburgers, hot dogs, chips, sides, and soft drinks, with cake for dessert.  A cash bar will be available for the beverages of your choice.

    Registration is REQUIRED to attend!

Please Sign Up by Monday, July 1st

    Bringing a Guest?

If you plan to come to the picnic with someone else, there are two ways to let us know:

    • If your companion is a club member in their own right, they can log in with their credentials and register for the picnic much as they would do if signing up for a club meeting or a trip.
    • Whether your companion is a club member or not, you can simply include them in your own picnic registration by clicking on the Add guest button before submitting your registration.

    If Your Plans Change

If your plans change and you can no longer attend, or if you need to change the number of people you've registered, please let us know by Monday July 1st so we can adjust our catering order ... or perhaps to allow us to confirm someone else to attend, if we've had to form a wait list due to capacity restrictions.  You may do this by:

      • Calling (703-862-6535) or emailing Steve Thompson
      • Calling (301-579-2749) or emailing Dave Olsen
      • Cancelling your registration yourself:
        • click on your name at the top
        • click on My Event Registrations
        • click on your picnic registration
        • click on the Cancel registration button
    • If you need to change the number of people you've registered (up or down), you can first cancel your registration, and then re-register with the new information.  Or just contact us.

We hope you will come out and catch up with your ski club friends and meet the trip leaders for the ski trips for the upcoming winter.  If you need to make a payment, bring your checkbook or your credit card.

Parking at Reston Town Center is FREE on the weekend.  Note - there is pay parking in the Hyatt Hotel garage, but there are several nearby garages that are free.  The Hyatt is located between the Silver and Blue garages on the map below.  The Green and Orange garages are also good parking options.

Snorkeling: Snorkeling is available at the resort and many areas around the island.  You can rent snorkeling equipment at the resort for $10/day.  You can also snorkel from the dive boat with the divers.  The cost is $47/boat trip (w/ snorkeling equipment) or $37 if you have your own equipment).  You will be able to snorkel while the divers are in the water (2-dives/boat trip).

On-Island Transportation:  For the non-divers in the group that may want to explore the island, rental cars can be rented at the airport.  Taxi service is also available around the island.  Please click this link below for more information.

Official Currency of Dominica: The official currency of Dominica is Eastern Caribbean Dollar (symbol is XCD).  The US Dollar is readily accepted by most businesses on the island.  If you plan on using US Dollars, it is advised to carry smaller denominations.  Coins are rejected.

Trip Insurance:   Emergency medical, evacuation & repatriation insurance (not cancellation insurance) is included with your trip.  This is not cancellation coverage and will not provide any relief if you have to cancel from the trip before it begins, whether for medical or other reasons.  You may upgrade the coverage of this Basic Plan to include cancellation insurance by clicking this link.  It will take you to a flyer describing the Basic Plan and the upgrade options available through Myra Altschuler of Travel Protectors LLC:

      • If you purchase your own travel insurance, which includes emergency medical, evacuation & repatriation coverage, and inform your trip leader prior to making your final payment on the trip, we will credit your trip invoice with the $60 cost of the club-provided Basic Plan.  You must present your policy to the trip leader to receive the credit.

DIVERS ALERT NETWORK (DAN):  It is recommended that all divers on the trip purchase a DAN membership (not included in trip cost).  In case of a dive accident, DAN membership can save you thousands of dollars.  DAN membership alone does not provide coverage for costs of a dive accident; dive accident insurance must be purchased separately for each member if you choose. Please see the chart and link below for the levels of membership, associated costs, and detailed information about DAN. https://dan.org/
