Non-Skiing Trips

The non-skiing vacation trips listed below (scroll down to UPCOMING EVENTS) are available for registration/signups as indicated.

2026 Ski Trips

Although we've nearly finalized next-winter's trip schedule, we won't have established prices or appointed trip leaders until early June, when we expect to open signups.  That said, here's a snapshot of how it's looking:

Epic & Ikon Passes:

All of our 2026 trips will be going to resorts that honor one of the multi-resort season passes, as indicated above.  You may purchase passes directly from the suppliers (i.e., Epic and IKON), but several of our our tour operators are offering discounts or rebates in conjunction with the trips you might take with the club.  Those offers are described on our Epic & Ikon Pass page.  If you plan to buy a pass, it may behoove you to act quickly as we expect the prices of both passes to go up in the coming weeks and months. You should consider purchasing passes early-on as the costs typically increase before the Memorial Day holiday and periodically as winter gets closer.   Season pass sales typically end in early-to-mid December.

Military Passes:

Military Epic passes and military discounts on IKON passes are only available from the suppliers (but note that special pricing is available on IKON Passes through the Military Sales Program).  Details appear on our Epic & Ikon Pass page.

Blue Ridge Ski Council:  Registration for our 2026 ski trips will be opened beginning August 1, 2025 to members of other ski clubs that are members of the Blue Ridge Ski Council through the "sanctioning" process.  Hint:  To register for a trip you must first "join" the PSC as a no-cost BRSC member and populate your membership profile.

Tips for All Trips

Trip Insurance:  Be sure to review our Trip Insurance page before signing up for a trip, and consider whether to purchase cancellation insurance.  Note that the cancel for any reason option requires that you pay the premium within 14 days of paying your initial deposit on a trip.  The 14-day purchase deadline also applies in order to waive the pre-existing medical condition exclusion.

Signup/Registration Tips:  Please take a moment to read the Trip Signup/Registration Tips.  Each individual must be logged-in with their PSC credentials (email address & password) in order to register (sign up) for a trip.  Before signing up, please take a moment to review your profile including your emergency contact information and (if you're thinking of a trip to Canada or Europe) your passport information.  Make sure your first and middle names exactly match your passport (or whatever ID you'll fly with) so your ticket gets issued correctly.  Then click on the trip's Register button if you're ready to sign up!  Your personal information will be pulled from your profile, and then you will need to select options specific to each trip, for example, what type of lodging you prefer (double occupancy or a single room at extra cost) and what type of lift ticket you want.

Important If you are registering someone other than yourself, you must log out of your own account and then log in with their credentials.  If you skip this step and register them while signed into your own account, their profile information won't convey into their signup record.  This is necessary even with family (bundle) memberships where you are the bundle administrator.

Wait-Listed Trips:  Click on the button to Join wait list and we may be able to confirm you on the trip if we have a cancellation, after confirming that you still want to go.  We're also sometimes able to expand a trip to accommodate additional skiers.

Trip Invoice & Initial Deposit:  An invoice will be generated for each trip you've registered for.  Each trip includes a payment table listing an initial deposit, one or more interim payments, and a final payment date.  You must pay the initial deposit, and any subsequent interim payments that have or are about to come due, to secure your place on the trip.  Your registration is not confirmed until we receive and acknowledge your deposit.  Payments can be made online with a credit card, or by check.  We can also accept credit card payments at club meetings.

    Tuesday, April 8th, 2025

    7:00 pm

    Register to Attend

    by Monday Mar 31st

Our April meeting will be on Tuesday, April 8th, 7:00 pm at Ft. Myer's Patton Hall (same location as always).  The evening will feature our annual campaign in support of Move United (nee Disabled Sports USA), which provides adaptive sports opportunities for people with disabilities to develop independence, confidence and fitnessPlease consider bringing your checkbook!

The evening will also feature our annual Council election (more below) and a preview of next-winter's trips.

Our complimentary menu will include honey glazed ham, whole poached salmon, mixed green salad, pasta salad, and peach cobbler.  A cash bar will be available for the drinks of your choice.

    Council Election - Vote Online!

Our annual election of members to the club's leadership Council will take place at the meeting.  As we have four candidates (you can find their platforms on this link) for three positions on the Council, this will be our first competitive election in quite some time.  About two weeks before the meeting (on or about March 24), we'll be sending our dues-paying members a ballot in the form of a "poll."  We'll send it coincident with the formal meeting announcement.

    VOTING RULES:

    • You may vote online by responding to the poll (which we encourage you to do), or in-person at the meeting, but not both.
    • Only dues-paying PSC members may vote:  Members of other Blue Ridge Ski Council clubs are not eligible to vote.
    • Your membership must be current and paid at least through April 8, 2025.
    • Only one vote is allowed per single or family membership.
    • Online voting will be available through the evening before the meeting (Monday, April 7, 2025).

    Registration Required

We're asking everyone to register to attend by Monday, March 31st just a week before the meeting so we can adjust the catering.

    Bringing a Guest?

If you plan to come to the meeting with someone else, there are two ways to let us know:

    • If your companion is a club member in their own right, they can log in with their credentials and register for the meeting much as they would do if signing up for a trip.
    • Whether your companion is a club member or not, you can simply include them in your own meeting registration by clicking on the Add guest button before submitting your registration.

    If Your Plans Change

If your plans change and you can no longer attend, please let us know (ideally by Monday, March 31st) so we can adjust our catering order.  You may do this by:

    • Calling (301-807-0918) or emailing Dave Olsen
    • Cancelling your registration yourself:
      • log into your account
      • click on your name at the top
      • click on My Event Registrations
      • click on your meeting registration
      • click on the Already registered link
      • click on the Cancel registration button

    Ft. Myer Entry Passes

You may recall that we offered an opportunity, when signing up for our March club meeting, to be sponsored for obtaining a long-term (1-year) Ft. Myer visitor pass.  We anticipate being able to repeat that opportunity on a quarterly basis, thus as part of the registration process for our planned July 12, 2025 picnic.  But not at this time.

    Entry to Ft. Myer

Please take a moment to review our Entry to Ft. Myer page.  There are several ways you'll be allowed to enter:

    • Passengers:  Firstly, be aware that drivers won't necessarily be allowed to vouch for their passengers.  Although a photo ID like a driver's license might sometimes be accepted, passengers without an Automated Installation Entry (AIE) Pass (see below) or one of the other types of ID mentioned below might need to complete a Installation Access Request Form and pass the vetting process to enter the base.
    • With Suitable ID:  If you have an active duty or retired military ID, or a DoD-issued Common Access Card (CAC) (and possibly several other types of government-issued ID), you should be able to enter the base without screening.
    • Without a Pass:  If you arrive for a club meeting outside of Visitor Control Center (VCC) hours (see below) and without suitable ID, your vehicle will be searched and you'll need to be vetted through their security system before being allowed entry.  This may take some time, so we suggest that you arrive at the base early.
    • One-Day Pass:  You can apply for a one-day pass online at this website (click on the link).  You can then show the pass on your phone to gain entry.  However, application must be submitted at least four days in advance of your visit.  The process time may depend on your footprint in various online systems, and you may need to go to the VCC to have your photo taken. That said, your application might be approved almost instantaneously if you've previously been approved for an AIE Pass.
    • 60-Day Pass:  You may apply for a 60-day pass at the Visitor Control Center, located just inside the main gate.  The VCC is open 6am-5pm Mon-Fri and 10am-3pm Saturdays.  You should be able to obtain a 60-day Automated Installation Entry (AIE) Pass right on the spot.
You will need to complete an access application and be vetted through their security system.  To help speed the process, we suggest that you complete the Fort Myer Installation Access Request Form ahead of your visit and bring it with you.
    • Long-Term/Annual Pass:  With sponsorship by Patton Hall, you may be able to get an AIE Pass good for as long as a year.  As mentioned above, we anticipate offering another opportunity for obtaining an annual pass in conjunction with our planned July 12, 2025 picnic.  But not at this time.

The PSC is heading to the Caribbean Island of Saba!!!  Please join us for a week of fun in the sun that includes scuba diving, snorkeling, and island exploration.  Hiking is very popular on Saba!

The smallest of the Dutch Caribbean islands, Saba (pronounced "sayba") is a rocky volcanic island with a single road (known as "The Road"), lush mountain forests, and excellent scuba diving and snorkeling.

The five-square-mile island in the northern Caribbean was formed atop a dormant volcano that has not erupted in 5,000 years and offers tremendous hiking trails for the adventurous traveler. In fact, this tiny spot in the Caribbean is a major mecca for eco-tourism vacations, earning it the moniker "The Unspoiled Queen." Saba is more of a wildlife and nature destination than a traditional beach vacation—the island boasts only one beach, and it's not overrun like many all-inclusive resorts.

    Juliana's Hotel

Our trip includes seven nights in Juliana's Hotel with 5 days of scuba diving, daily breakfast, 7 dinners, 1 lunch, round trip airport transfers, and hotel taxes. The hotel offers an extensive list of amenities including an onsite restaurant, pool and hot tub facilities, free shuttle service, and free wifi.  Juliana’s restaurant, Tropics Café, serves your included breakfast, and offers a full lunch & dinner menus.

    Basic Trip Includes:

    • 7 nights deluxe oceanfront accommodations at Juliana’s Hotel
    • Breakfast (all 7 days) at Tropics Cafe’ (Juliana’s restaurant),
    • 1 To-Go lunch (on the dive day of your afternoon dive)
    • 2 dinners at Tropics Cafe’
    • 5 dinners around Saba

    Dive Package ($750 value) Includes:

    • 5 days of 2-tank morning boat dives,
    • 1 afternoon dive,
    • Nitrox, tanks & weights

Our Ocean View rooms are air-conditioned with a private bathroom, TV, coffee/tea maker, mini fridge, direct dial telephone, safe, and a porch or balcony, all with spectacular ocean views.

Single Rooms:  Listed price is for double occupancy.  Add $645 for the Single Supplement if you want a room to yourself.

Air Schedule:  Everyone will need to secure their own air for the trip.  Here's the itinerary booked by the trip leader, which you may wish to duplicate.  Flights (Subject to Change) are on United Airlines to St. Maarten, connecting with Winair (Windward Islands Airways International) into Saba:

NOTE: The trip leader’s itinerary includes an overnight stay on St. Maarten on 31 May and his return flight to IAD is on 1 June.  This itinerary requires 1-night accommodation (extra cost) with an opportunity to explore St. Maarten for a day.  For those that may be interested, the trip leader booked a one-night reservation at the Hilton Vacation Club Flamingo Beach St. Maarten.

Airline itineraries to fly back to IAD on 31 May exist but are approximately $300 more expensive.

Membership Requirement:  Your club membership must be current when signing up for the trip and throughout the duration of the trip.  The trip will be "sanctioned" through the Blue Ridge Ski Council:  Current members of other BRSC member ski clubs may register for the trip

      Trip Information:

      Beaches:

Saba has only 1 beach and is not known for it’s beaches.  CNN travel published a good description of Saba in a 2019 posting:

A rare Caribbean island where beaches aren’t the draw

Other Activities: (You can sign up and pay for these activities at the resort)

      • Snorkeling is available daily by boat. Snorkelers can join the morning dive group boat, but they can never guarantee that the sites are suitable for snorkeling in the morning. They usually take snorkelers out in the afternoon. ($39 per person/per day).
      • A guided hike is $25 per person and a minimum of four hikers needed.
      • A glass blowing class with, JoBean, can be organized. She can take a maximum of four students at a time and cost is $115 per person. The proper class takes about three hours. But she also does free demonstrations
      • Rum tasting can also be organized. Cost is approximately $50 per person, but if you are planning on the rum tasting on Friday it must be completed before 4pm.
      • Bird watching is also available.  Cost is TBD but can be determined at the resort.

On-Island Transportation:  For the non-divers in the group that may want to explore the island, the hotel offers free shuttle service.  Taxi service is also available around the island.

Official Currency:  The official currency is the US Dollar.  There are ATM machines on the island to obtain cash (US Dollars) if needed.

Trip Insurance:   Emergency medical, evacuation & repatriation insurance (not cancellation insurance) is included with your trip.  This is not cancellation coverage and will not provide any relief if you have to cancel from the trip before it begins, whether for medical or other reasons.  You may upgrade the coverage of this Basic Plan to include cancellation insurance by clicking this link.  It will take you to a flyer describing the Basic Plan and the upgrade options available through Myra Altschuler of Travel Protectors LLC:

      • The Option 2 cancellation plan provides all the benefits of the Basic Plan, but also covers you for cancelling for a number of basic reasons such as illness, injury or death to you or to your traveling companion/ roommate.  You must purchase it within 14 days of putting down your very first dollar towards the trip in order to waive the pre-existing medical condition exclusion.
      • The Option 3 "Cancel For Any Reason" (CFAR) plan provides all the benefits of the Option 2 plan, but also covers you for cancelling for any non-standard reason, or if you just don’t want to go, but you must purchase it within 14 days of putting down your very first dollar towards the trip.  If you cancel your trip for a non-standard reason, your refund will be limited to 75% of your insured trip cost.
      • If you upgrade your coverage with either option through Myra, prior to making your final payment on the trip, we will credit your trip invoice with the $60 cost of the club-provided Basic Plan.
      • If you purchase your own travel insurance, which includes emergency medical, evacuation & repatriation coverage, and inform your trip leader prior to making your final payment on the trip, we will credit your trip invoice with the $60 cost of the club-provided Basic Plan.  You must present your policy to the trip leader to receive the credit.

DIVERS ALERT NETWORK (DAN):  It is recommended that all divers on the trip purchase a DAN membership (not included in trip cost).  In case of a dive accident, DAN membership can save you thousands of dollars.  DAN membership alone does not provide coverage for costs of a dive accident; dive accident insurance must be purchased separately for each member if you choose. Please see the chart and link below for the levels of membership, associated costs, and detailed information about DAN. https://dan.org/
